About OnHealth
We translate dense scientific jargon into clear, concise summaries, highlighting why a finding is interesting and what it means for you.
Our Mission
OnHealth is a curated platform that brings you the most important and interesting scientific studies across 9 key health categories. We scan thousands of newly published papers every week to find the ones that truly matter.
Our goal is to allow you to keep up with the latest science so you can make informed everyday health decisions.
How We Select Studies
1. Recency
- Published within the last 3 months for the main feed.
- Extended to 12 months for landmark studies (large RCTs, major meta-analyses, or studies generating significant scientific debate).
2. Study Type Hierarchy
- Tier 1: Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and large RCTs (n > 100).
- Tier 2: Smaller RCTs, prospective cohort studies, and Mendelian randomization studies.
- Tier 3: Cross-sectional and observational studies.
- Tier 4: Animal and cell studies — include only if the mechanism is novel and directly relevant to a human health question.
3. Human Subjects Priority
We prioritize human studies. We include animal or in-vitro studies only when they reveal a novel mechanism with clear human relevance, or they receive significant media or scientific community attention.
4. Practical Relevance
The study should meet at least one of:
- Offers actionable implications: readers could change a behavior, dose, timing, or approach based on the findings.
- Offers perspective-shifting insight: the findings change how readers understand their body, a condition, or a health behavior, even if no immediate action follows.
5. Novelty and Interest
We prioritize studies that challenge conventional wisdom, confirm an important hypothesis with stronger evidence, reveal a genuinely new mechanism, or address an active public health debate.
