Researchers used MRI data from 2,433 adults to build a brain-age model, then tracked 309 healthy older adults over two years. Participants were split into three groups: heavy-resistance training, moderate training, or no exercise. The results showed that both moderate- and heavy-resistance training significantly reduced biological brain age by 1.4 to 2.3 years compared to the control group. Furthermore, heavy training boosted functional connectivity in the prefrontal cortex. This suggests that structured physical training has a global, rejuvenating effect on the brain's network-level aging processes.
